Leave Bangkok behind and travel on a journey that will bring you face to face with the elephants. Elephant Haven is a part of the Elephant Freedom Project that has freed a total of 7 elephants. Join this day trip to the full-day elephant care program and support them in providing the life these animals deserve. Sit back and relax on the air-conditioned vehicle that will bring you to the camp’s gate and back safely.
What a lovely way to spend a couple of days. The guides and Mahouts at the sanctuary were friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great time from feeding and bathing the elephants through to the river floating. Don’t expect 5 star luxury if you stay overnight, as we did, but we had a good night’s sleep
Such a great experience. The elephants are well cared for and you get to spend a day doing their normal routine. Playing with them in the mud and swimming with them in the river was definitely a highlight. I recommend if you are in the area or have an additional day in Bangkok
Had an amazing time, the guides were great, had a lot of knowledge about the elephants, they were treated very well and were very friendly. Would highly recommend a visit to experience something special.
A beautiful and rewarding day. Up close and personal with these gentle giants. The drive is so worth the opportunity to interact -- feed, walk, bathe and swim -- with these beautiful rescued elephants. Go!
Elephants go back to the center for being fed by visitors (who learn in the process) but roam free in a marge area on River Kwai for most of the day. They eat, play, and swim in the river. They are very friendly and visitors can actually swim with them. It is a most humane place that has banned riding on the elephants, shows, etc. The animals look very happy. The visitors too.
This was the most amazing experience. The elephants here are all rescued from different situations. The mahoots/handlers each had an elephant that they would watch over however they were rarely with the elephant and would watch from a distance to make sure that the elephant wasnt in any danger. These elephants are treated very kindly and were allowed to wander off and do what they please. One of the elephants is blind so they don't allow visitors to go too close to her but they make sure you know which one she is. They also had a handler with that elephant at all times to make sure she was ok and to guide her to the grass field and through the forest.
We got to prepare rice balls and watermelons for the elephants before feeding them. After that, we spent a good hour or so walking around in the forest with the elephants and learning more about them and each elephants backgrounds. We were taken back for lunch which was a nice variety of food that they had made. After Lunch, we walked back through the forest and down to the river where the elephants were so we could swim and bathe them. It truely was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to spend time with elephants.
Our driver for the private transfer was really nice too. He arrived on time for pick up and made sure to stop along the way for a toilet break. He waited the whole time at the Elephant Haven until we were ready to leave as well.
